This painting was created to remember the historic beach shacks that once stood on Willard Beach since the 1800s. Tragically, Maine experienced severe weather earlier this year and an unprecedented storm surge washed all three buildings into Casco Bay. I’ve always liked this angle with one of the shacks and the Portland Head Light in the background, so I painted this piece to preserve the memory of a beloved piece of Maine’s history.
