Many trails around coastal Maine wind along an inlet of ocean, and I am often peering through the branches of fir trees to watch the birds, boats, and the occasional seal. On this particular evening, I was watching a Cormorant, and I was drawn in by how his wake fractured the light in such a mesmerizing way.
